how could I have been so polite to simply let you die who am I to spread my fingers after he has filled my hands
Darkness swirled around in the snow white she-cats mind, nightmares of shadows and blood and death. Verbenapaw opened her acid yellow eyes to sliver of moon shining down on her through tall grass, her breath was coming out in gasps and her body was shaking with fear. The thing was, Verbenapaw couldn't remember her nightmare, it had shaken her up bad enough but she wanted to know what it had been about. That was happening a lot lately, she not being able to remember her dreams just that they made her either happy or scared. She got to her shaking white paws and shook out her silky white pelt, chills ran up her spine when she finally reliezed where she was. Verbenapaw wasn't surrounded by her clan-mates in the apprentice's den, she was out in the territory. She looked around quickly, the nightmare fading from her mind but clinging to the edges, her acid yellow eyes like suns in the darkness. Verbenapaw searched the ground for her prey, listening for any signs of noises around her, besides the usual nature sounds.

The fire burns bright the heart burns strong Listening forever for another life to come along
the she-cat sat, silently, silently, waiting for something, something to leap out. her emerald eyes filled with fear as she sensed the cat. her perch on the tree branch was a comfortable hiding place as she waited. she saw a dark shape leap through a tree nearby. her warrior instincts told her to chase, but she didn't dare give away herself. she stared at the cat below her and saw a mouse nearby. Lilacstone leaped down, pinning the mouse to the ground, and swiftly killed it.
"Hello, Verbenapaw. sorry about my jumping in, but i simply couldn't resist, there was just to much prey. Maybe you will catch something later." the grey, black, and brown cat flicked her curled tail, then buried the mouse to retrieve later.
"Why are you out anyway?" she asked. Lilacstone was doing some midnight hunting, like she tried to do at her old home. a pang of homesickness filled her body, making her shudder. no. she told herself. The Deadly Ones no longer exist. I AM home now.

Verbenapaw heard a noise that was as silent as a breath, she didn't whirl around until the whisper-like thud sounded behind her. The white she-cat turned on her hind-legs and was ready to strike with her fore-paws when she noticed that it was Lilacstone, the long haired apprentice growled in annoyance that the warrioress had scared her. With the nightmare gone from her conscious memory, the silky white fur only standing up on her spine because of the tabby she-cat. Verbenapaw looked at the dead mouse at Lilacstone's paws, the need to talk back bubbling in her chest. But she wasn't going to, though she was annoyed and angry, Verbenapaw didn't have the energy to be sarcastic or snap back. She shook out her long white fur before sitting down, her acid yellow eyes flashing in the darkness.
"Because I wanted to find my sister, I haven't seen her since yesterday. Why are you out here?"
It wasn't exactly the truth, she didn't want to tell the tabby warrioress that she had fallen asleep for she might tell Whitestar. Verbenapaw wasn't too fond of the new leader and she didn't think that the new leader was too fond of her either. Whitestar was delaying her warrior ceremony and it was getting on her nerves, Deliriumfoot had told her that she would become a warrior as soon as he came back. The problem was, he never did. She almost thought that it was an omen until Goshawkpaw never got his name as well. Oh, Goshawkpaw, how he moved in his brown tabby coat, how his yellow-green eyes dazzled her. She shook the thoughts from her head, he was only a friend, he was after that Taintedpaw anyways, well before she disappeared.

Lilacstone's emerald eyes narrowed. the white cat in front of her was clearly angry, Lilacstone knew the look well.
"I was hunting, of course. and Your sister is where she should be, sleeping, i'm sure. like YOU should be." Lilacstone walked back to her tree, and using her tail, beckoned Verbenapaw to follow. "Since you are out here, I suppose you can come hunting with me. I hope you like trees." the grey tabby leaped up into the tree, resuming her original perch, and waited.

Verbenapaw watched as Lilacstone narrowed her pretty green eyes at her, it made her nervous and heat sizzled in her paws, her acid yellow eyes hiding it with a challenge. What if she reports me to Whitestar? Then I'll never be a warrior, thoughts of this fear zoomed through her head like a fly in the heat. The long-haired white she-cat braced herself for the words that would send her to an even more extended apprenticeship, she prepared to snap back but when the warrioress spoke of the opposite, Verbenapaw bit her tongue. The white apprentice tried to shake off any fears that she had before, the nightmare had vanished from her mind and she couldn't remember sleeping at all.
"Of course, where else would she be?"
Verbenapaw didn't believe Poppypaw to be in camp, she thought of her sister out on the border meeting up secretly with some tom from another clan. Her sister wasn't very loyal she knew and she thought all the males in their clan were boring, she also wouldn't be suprised if Poppypaw was pregnant right now. Ohh well, she would have to see in the morning. Verbenapaw watched Lilacstone jump so gracefully into a tree, she had been so focused on Poppypaw that she just barely caught the tabby she-cats words. Jealousy pricked at Verbenapaw, she didn't know if she could leap that high let alone gracefully. A silent rumble tickled her throat as she tried to hold down a growl, her muscles bunched up and she leaped, her claws caught a hold of the trunk as she almost fell. Verbenapaw climbed from there to where Lilacstone stood on the branch.

It was a surprise to have company, No one usually hunted with the tabby warrior because of her love of squirreling. Squirreling is when you sit on a branch, motionless, and wait for any sighns of life. then you leap out and grab what it is. Usually, to Lilacstone's disappointment, it was a cat that she pounced on, and the warrior got in trouble a lot, but she also is a fantastic hunter soooo....
"Do you know how to to hunt MY way? Squirreling?" the tabby asked, using her tail to help the white cat onto the tree branch.
