SILENTBASIL ;; the silent stalker
His body moved slowly, arching over the rocks and roots, gracefully twisting around bushes and trees. No sound came when he put a paw down on the forest floor, he was too careful to make any noise, always avoiding stepping on the twigs and leaves. He was graceful in the way most females were, in the way no house cats were. For he was a Caracal, an African savanna cat, born to run and chase with the up most grace and power.
The forest was quiet, only the sound of the rustling leaves and branches overhead and around were heard. The tom's ears swiveled back and forth, trying to catch every sound and whisper of the winds. His fur ruffled silently as air passed through it and then it lay back down. His eyes glimmered faintly as he walked onto a small beach. The lake was large and circular, filled with fish and various plants.
His rather large paws left large deformed prints in the sand that came from the lake. He was silent as he moved through the tiny pebbles of the dirt and sand, touching them, leaving a print, and then moving forward once again. This wasn't really his type of walk, or even a break. No he would have preferred to be working or something, not bored and walking about. It reminded him to much of the time when he was alone in the forest as a kit. Just wandering around wondering where Ma and Pa were, why they had left him alone with his siblings. He was to young to really know that Pa had left them there for a reason, to give them to Eclipseclan, where Skylark had once lived.
He had sat with his siblings for only a few hours when a petrol found them. They recognized the scent of his fur, along with the fact that Silentbasil looked exactly with his father. The patrol carried the three kits back to camp and that was the end. They had become a part of the place their father had left, and now it was to painful to leave. Silentbasil couldn't understand why his father had left, probably wouldn't ever. The tom walked silently, as his name implied, not bothering to chase the few mice that scurried away from him. He stopped at the water's edge and watched the ripple of the lake as it moved to lap at the sand at his feet.
He stood, looking over at the water for a while, not really paying attention to what was going on, just looking at the dark water and the small stones that collected at the shore under the water. A rustle behind him alerted the tom that someone had been watching him. He didn't look up immediately, taking his time to finish up what ever it was that he was doing. When he did look up there was no one in sight, but he took his time scanning the area, even calling out absently from time to time, "Hello?"

The tall, fluffy tabby had gone out that day to get away from the commotion of the clan and their noises that torture her so. She hadn't planned on hunting or taking her mother and father's death out on a tree in the Razor Forest. Again. The silver tabby cat sometimes couldn't handle the daily doings of her apprentice life and had to take it out on something. Her fluffy feet seemed to be cradled in the soft dirt beneath her, she avoided any large sticks and the most places where some leaves had fallen from rare gusts of wind. It was as well in her nature to be silent and quick, to get away from any large crowds without being noticed.
Hoaxpaw jumped back in surprise when her silver paws started to sink into the loose sand that surrounded Eclipse Lake. She thought at first that she was alone but she then her a male voice from further down the small beach. The tabby stuck her silver head around a thick bush, her icy blue eyes widened to find the form of Silentbasil. His brown coat odd and foreign to her but he still seemed interesting. Her voice was just above a whisper as she began to speak.
"Hullo, Silentbasil. It's just me, I'm sorry to startle you if I did, it just surprised me that I had ventured this far."

Within the tall grasses and trees, he was stalking a vole alone; he had wanted to do a little hunting by himself. Charredrunner loved his clan above all else, but sometimes he felt smoothered under the clan's constant presence. In the end, he always escaped away to the forest, or the lake, to take in a little fresh air.
Today he had choosen to go to the lake. Along the way, he bagged two mice and a wood pigeon for good measure. He might be taking a breather away from camp, but that didn't mean he shouldn't perform his warrior duties, too.
He stepped lightly on his paws, letting his haunches waggle a bit. The vole, who was only a few tail-lengths ahead out in the open, stopped and sniffed the air. Before it could run, Charredrunner was airborne; he leapt up out of the grass clump he had hidden in, with his paws outstretched. He brought them down on the vole, and sunk his teeth into its spine. Its little brown body became limp at once, before it could even squeak in protest. He smiled to himself, and quickly buried the body between the roots of a nearby tree. He ran the rest of the way to the gritty beach.
The first thing he spotted was, of course, the dark lake. The murky water lapped at large stones, which had been worn down over time. He was mesmerized by the whole place, as he always was when he laid eyes on it. After a minute, he managed to tear his gaze away. He spotted two cats farther down the beach. One was a large tom, who looked a little funny.. and the other was a gangly apprentice. Neither of them looked very familiar to Charredrunner. Though they must be from his clan. If not.. He flexed his front digits, one at a time. Chasing off enemies was one of the warrior's favorite pastimes.
He dashed down the beach, thrilled at the sudden adrenaline rush. The two figures grew larger and larger until he passed by the apprentice. He skidded to a stop. "Hey-ho!," he cried as he let up a spray of sand. He probably shouldn't have made such a flashy entrance, he thought as he wheezed loudly. They looked like they had been all quiet and everything before he'd come running. "I'm Charredrunner, He gasped between sharp intakes of breath. Fresh air, indeed. [/blockquote]

Hoaxpaw was just about to sit when the sound of some sort of force was rushing toward them, her silver and black tabby fur stood on end and her icy blue eyes were bright with surprise, terror, and the urge to fight. Her teeth were bared in a hiss as she turned around to meet a cloud of dust and sand sprayed into her nose, maw, and eyes. The tall apprentice was sent jumping backwards in a coughing, sputtering fit. She got enough of her sight back to find Charredrunner standing near Silentbasil in a thin cloud of sand. A glare erupted from the she-cats icy eyes, her fur was still on end and covered in sand.
"I know who you are, what gave you the sudden urge to make sand fly in our faces? It was quite unnecessary and rude!"
Hoaxpaw let her temper fly into her words and then let it cool as she breathed heavily and coughing every now and then, the taste of sand stuck in her mouth. She knew she shouldn't be yelling or talking that way towards a warrior but she didn't care as long as silence over took her again. It didn't seem that likely that it would any time soon. She let out her breath in a loud huff and continued to glare at Charredrunner.

SILENTBASIL ;; the silent stalker
The lone forest was the only one that answered his call, their branches swaying in a steady wind, the rustle of birds in their nests, and then there was the every now and then squeak of a stray mouse in the distance. The silence was a peaceful thing, it always had been. It was a protection that he craved, a silent blanket that almost never stirred or lifted. It was the one true thing he could count on, the one thing he felt comfortable with. And it was all disturbed by that little cat that just had to hear his voice. Hoaxpaw was just an apprentice, Silentbasil knew that, but that didn't make the fact the kit had disturbed his peace any less annoying. The tom's ears flickered in slight annoyance as his eyes came upon the slim cat.
Her small frame approached him swiftly, white silver gliding against the brown of the sand and the dark colors of the rocks. "Hullo, Silentbasil. It's just me, I'm sorry to startle you if I did, it just surprised me that I had ventured this far." Her voice was just above a whisper, her eyes peering at him in an innocent sort of way. He nodded to her, not saying much was his specialty and any who didn't know that would learn. Hopefully she wouldn't feel inclined to stick around, after all Silentbasil isn't one for talking.... or even company so it would suck for both of them. And can you guess what happens next? Yeah, just what Silentbasil needs, a second figure coming towards him. And the second figure was not slowing down, at all.
Orange fur flashed to the tom's left, running past the two cats. "Hey ho! I'm Charredrunner" He said between gasping breaths of forest air. Silentbasil turned his head to look at the fiery tom who was getting up in a cloud of dust and earth. His ears flickered back and forth, watching and listening as Hoaxpaw began to yell at the older tom. Silentbasil's eyes narrowed as the apprentice began to talk rudely to the warrior, her elder. His jaw clenched, if there was one thing he hated it had to be way apprentices didn't mind their manners around all of their elders. Not all apprentices were like that, but a lot were and it irked him that they didn't show respect for all. "I know who you are, what gave you the sudden urge to make sand fly in our faces? It was quite unnecessary and rude!"
"Stop it, Hoaxpaw." Silentbasil spoke in a soft cold voice, his eyes shown of fury, the purple flecks in his eyes began to expand dangerously, the rings around his eyes became like the hottest purple flame. The length of his tail whipped through the air, not in a harsh, splitting way, aiming for Hoaxpaw's shoulder. She may have come to escape being an apprentice for awhile, maybe even wandered off a tad father then she should have, but she needed to mind her manners. Silentbasil stared down at the apprentice, relaxing slightly, his shoulders and spine loosening up. "Quit your hissing." His voice stopped then, he was all out of talk. The purple in his eyes died down, he lowered his eyes then and nodded towards Charredrunner in greeting. He shifted his weight on his paws, waiting for Hoaxpaw to start hissing again.

hoaxpaw
you were pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie your in the arms of an angel may you find some comfort here Hoaxpaw's icey blue eyes blazed with pain and anger as she stared at the fiery orange warrior, but her brilliant silver tabby coat lay flat on her back again. Her gaze flashed to Silentbasil her short fuse burning like a wild fire inside of her, she took silent, cool breaths of the lakeside air. The cool air soothed her insides and made the wild fire inside her a calm flame. She let the emotions drain from her eyes, to anyone who watches her eyes, when she hides her feelings it's quite disturbing. The ice hardened in her gaze and a dead, sightless look appeared, her emotions were tucked into a little door in her mind that she buried deep down. Hoaxpaw's emotionless blue eyes stared at Silentbasil as his eyes became fearfully dangerous. Her shoulder stung a little after his tail came down upon it, her expression stayed the same but her body itched to comment back but she fought against her temptation.
"I'm sorry for my ill mannered speaking, I had no right to defend myself or you for Charredrunner's play. How if you don't mind me asking, have you seen Grebewing?"
Hoaxpaw held her sarcastic tone back as her sweet, whispery voice spilled from her lips, her icy blue eyes letting annoyance and worry seep into her gaze. She wanted to find her mentor so she could get away from Silentbasil's frightening gaze and his harsh yet few words. His tall body was larger then her tall form and his eyes scared her though she didn't let either the silent tom or the fiery orange male know. She hadn't seen Grebewing in a while and it was a good idea though to find her, she needed training in her before she became a warrior, which was soon.
